Former India Cricket Stars Share Insights at Match Referees Seminar

A seminar for match referees was held at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru on Wednesday, featuring insightful discussions led by former Indian cricket legends. Former captains and head coaches, Anil Kumble and Rahul Dravid, shared their extensive experience and expertise with the participants.

Joining them were ICC match referee Javagal Srinath and Elite Panel umpire Nitin Menon, both of whom have recently officiated in the prestigious T20 World Cup. Srinath, who has served as a match referee since 2006, has officiated in over 250 ODIs, making him one of the most experienced referees in the game. Both Srinath and Nitin were retained in the ICC Elite Panel earlier this year, showcasing their continued excellence in officiating.

The seminar covered a range of topics related to managing cricket matches, including on-field decisions, player conduct, and the overall smooth running of the game. Several domestic match referees, including the seasoned Manu Nayyar, attended the session and actively participated in the discussions.

The NCA’s Education Head, Sujith Somasundar, also contributed to the seminar, adding his perspective on the role of education and training in the development of match referees.

This event at the NCA reflects the BCCI’s commitment to nurturing and enhancing the skills of match referees, ensuring that the highest standards of officiating are maintained in Indian cricket.
