Varna Airport in Bulgaria reached a historic milestone on September 4th, welcoming its 1,000,000th passenger. The lucky traveler, Irene Ohn, arrived on a Sunclass Airlines flight from Trondheim, Norway, and was greeted with a warm welcome and special gifts.
The airport staff presented Ohn with a specially branded suitcase, symbolizing her journey to the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. The celebration extended to all 172 passengers on the flight, who received handmade biscuits, balloons, and a festive atmosphere. This was the first time the airport organized a special welcome for a passenger with a specific number, and it was also the first time such a celebration took place with a late-night flight.
Sunclass Airlines has been operating flights to Varna Airport since 2009, having transported nearly 670,000 passengers over 3,000 flights. This year, the airline is anticipating a double-digit growth in passenger numbers, exceeding both last summer’s season and the numbers from 2019. The Scandinavian market plays a significant role in Varna Airport’s tourism, making up the top 5 of incoming tourist markets. Charter flights from nine Scandinavian airports in Norway, Denmark, Finland, and Sweden bring in a considerable number of passengers, with the majority coming from Norway.
Dr. Frank Quante, CEO of Fraport Twin Star Airport Management AD, expressed his appreciation for the milestone achievement and the strong partnership with Sunclass Airlines. He also thanked the airport staff for their dedication to providing excellent service. Varna Airport remains committed to maintaining its high level of service quality and ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all passengers.
