Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves Still Call Each Other Husband and Wife After ‘Dracula’ Wedding

Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves, who famously co-starred in the 1992 film *Dracula*, have a unique bond that transcends their on-screen relationship. Despite the fact that their marriage in the film was not legally binding, the two actors still refer to each other as husband and wife, a revelation that has recently come to light.

Ryder, in a recent appearance on the podcast *Happy Sad Confused*, revealed that she and Reeves continue to communicate regularly through email. She shared, “We’re married in real life. In that scene, Francis [Ford Coppola, the director] used a real Romanian priest. We said our vows, and we did the whole thing. So I think we’re married.” She went on to explain that they still use endearing terms like “husband” and “wife” in their emails. “I email him and I’ll say, ‘Happy birthday, my husband.’ And he’ll email me back and say, ‘Hey, my wife, love you, KR 57.’ He always puts his age at the end. Always.”

The pair’s connection goes beyond their *Dracula* wedding. They have also shared the screen in *Scanner Darkly* (2006), *The Private Lives of Pippa Lee* (2009), and *Destination Wedding* (2018). Their bond, though, stems from that fateful day on the *Dracula* set.

While Reeves has said he doesn’t fully recall the details of the ceremony, he acknowledges the impact it has had on their relationship. “We did a whole wedding with a real priest. And Winona says we’re married. Francis says we’re married. So I guess we’re married under the eyes of God.”

The pair’s playful acknowledgement of their *Dracula* marriage, even though it was a fictional event, is a testament to their enduring friendship and the lasting impact of their shared experience. It also showcases the enduring power of cinema and its ability to create lasting memories and bonds between actors.
