Teresa Dilger, a German model, and Yesim Ak, a real estate broker, have a love story that began on the day of the 2014 World Cup. While Teresa was sporting German flags painted on her cheeks, Yesim, a fervent Argentina supporter, found herself being offered a German beer by the model. This chance encounter blossomed into a relationship, and nine years later, the couple decided to tie the knot on their favorite Greek island, Milos.
The idea for the wedding sparked during a casual conversation. “Teresa turned to me and said, ‘Let’s get married!’” remembers Yesim. In true fashion-forward style, they planned the entire wedding, including a pre-honeymoon to Southeast Asia, in just a week. “The concept came together very quickly,” Yesim shares. “I used to produce fashion shows for Gucci and YSL during the Tom Ford era, so this was easy for me. We make a great duo because Teresa is super organized, as well, and is very good at travel planning from her early years of modeling around the world.”
The couple’s wedding weekend was a whirlwind of unique themes and celebratory moments. They embraced a playful dress code for each event, reflecting their shared love for fashion and creating a cohesive aesthetic throughout the festivities.
For the welcome night at Utopia Cafe, they wanted their guests to feel like brides themselves, so they requested long white dresses or white linen jackets. The next day, a catamaran cruise around Milos took place under a dress code of solid black, allowing the brides to stand out in their matching white Eres swimsuits.
The ceremony at Sarakinko Beach, chosen for its mystical quality and natural beauty, reflected a ’90s aesthetic inspired by Calvin Klein Eternity ads. Guests were asked to wear slip dresses or button-down shirts, creating a chic and effortlessly cool atmosphere. The brides themselves channeled the era, with Yesim wearing a custom Rifat Ozbek dress from the ’90s and Teresa opting for a custom two-piece ensemble designed by Paul Burgo of Factory New York.
Their wedding rings were a testament to their shared appreciation for timeless design and luxury. They visited Buccellati, where Yesim fell in love with the Fedi Eternelle ring, which perfectly fit Teresa. At Graff, Teresa surprised Yesim with two rings – one in white gold and one with diamonds – both inspired by the Laurence Graff Signature pieces.
The ceremony was an emotional highlight, with opera singers Mireille Lebel and Rachel Fenlon performing a captivating a cappella rendition of “The Flower Duet (from Lakmé)” by Delibes. The singers, in slip dresses and inspired by Botticelli’s Birth of Venus, added an artistic touch to the already breathtaking setting.
A spontaneous dance party, inspired by a Matisse painting, took place immediately after the couple’s kiss. “We didn’t rehearse anything, and somehow it all fell into place,” shares Yesim. The guests formed a large circle, and the brides danced into it, creating a euphoric atmosphere with their joyful movements.
The reception was a vibrant affair, with delicious food, heartfelt speeches, and music that kept the guests dancing until the early hours. The party continued the following day with a farewell beach hang, followed by a buddymoon on the neighboring island of Folegandros.
