Thane CM Orders Action to Ease Ghodbunder Road Traffic Congestion

Following persistent complaints from residents and motorists about severe traffic congestion on Ghodbunder Road in Thane, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has instructed authorities to take immediate action to address the issue. The directive comes after a delegation of Ghodbunder Road residents met with Thane civic commissioner Saurabh Rao, MMRDA, and traffic police officials to seek solutions.

The recurring traffic snarls on the arterial road have been attributed to a combination of factors, including heavy vehicles entering city limits, overlapping paths, and incidents on the stretch. Residents have reported being stranded for hours due to these issues, highlighting the urgent need for intervention.

Shiv Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik, who accompanied the delegation, announced the Chief Minister’s directives. The plan involves implementing several measures to alleviate the congestion. These include restricting heavy vehicles from entering city limits, addressing black spots to prevent further accidents, and deploying additional resources to manage traffic flow. Specifically, 50 police officers and 100 marshals from the Thane corporation will be deployed between Anand Nagar and Gaimukh on Ghodbunder Road.

The Chief Minister’s intervention is a direct response to the mounting frustration among commuters and residents. The implementation of these measures is expected to bring significant relief and improve traffic flow on this vital road in Thane.
