G20 Summit 2023: Traffic Restrictions in Delhi

The Delhi government has implemented traffic restrictions in the national capital ahead of the upcoming G20 Summit, scheduled for September 9th and 10th. From midnight on September 7th until 11:59 PM on September 10th, vehicles including goods vehicles, commercial vehicles, interstate buses, and local city buses will be prohibited from operating on Mathura Road (beyond Ashram Chowk), Bhairon Road, Purana Quila Road, and inside Pragati Maidan Tunnel. However, goods vehicles transporting essential commodities like milk, vegetables, fruits, and medical supplies with valid ‘No Entry Permissions’ will be allowed to enter Delhi.

Weather: Orange Alert for Four States

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for four states: Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Goa. These states are expected to experience heavy precipitation. Delhi is under a yellow alert today, and the weather department forecasts wet spells in Gujarat on September 7th, and in Maharashtra and Goa until September 9th. Isolated heavy rainfall is also “very likely” over Chhattisgarh until September 13th.

Paris Paralympics 2024: Team India’s Medal Tally

As of September 6th, Team India’s medal tally at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games has reached 27, with six gold medals, nine silver medals, and 12 bronze medals. This marks India’s most successful Paralympic performance ever, surpassing the five gold medals won at Tokyo 2020. More than half of the medals have come from para-athletes, who have contributed a proud 15 medals. India has sent its largest ever Paralympic contingent to the event, comprising 84 athletes across 12 sports.

Ganesh Chaturthi 2024: 10-Day Celebrations Begin

Today, September 7th, marks the commencement of the 10-day Hindu festival of Ganesh Chaturthi, celebrating the birth of Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed deity revered as the remover of obstacles and the god of wisdom and new beginnings. Also known as Vinayak Chaturthi, celebrations include devotional and festive activities. Devotees welcome Lord Ganesha in the form of elaborate and colorful idols to their homes on the first day of the festival. They offer prayers, observe fasts, perform rituals, and participate in community gatherings. The festival is often marked by music, dance, and elaborate decorations.
