Air India Tightens Check-In Policy for International Flights from Delhi

Air India has made a significant change to its check-in policy for international flights departing from Delhi. Effective September 10, 2024, the airline will close its check-in counters 75 minutes before the scheduled departure time for all international flights. This policy shift aims to streamline the check-in process and ensure timely departures, ultimately contributing to a smoother travel experience for passengers.

The earlier closure of check-in counters will provide Air India with ample time to manage necessary pre-flight procedures, facilitating better coordination between ground staff and flight crews. By minimizing last-minute rushes, the airline hopes to reduce stress and ensure passengers have sufficient time to complete security screenings and other formalities before their flight.

Passengers are urged to adjust their arrival times accordingly and arrive at the airport well in advance of their flight. This proactive measure allows travelers to avoid potential delays or inconveniences and ensure a seamless journey. Air India’s emphasis on punctuality reflects its commitment to enhancing customer service and providing a more efficient travel experience for international passengers.

Beyond this policy change, Air India continues to prioritize a modernized and improved travel experience. The airline has recently incorporated A350 planes into its fleet and is set to introduce in-flight Wi-Fi services, starting with the Delhi-London Heathrow route. The introduction of Wi-Fi will provide passengers with greater connectivity during their flights, adding another layer of convenience to their journey.

The airline’s efforts align with India’s broader push towards a more digitalized air travel experience. On September 6, 2024, the Union Minister of Civil Aviation, K Ram Mohan Naidu, launched the DigiYatra facility at Visakhapatnam Airport. This initiative leverages facial biometric validation to create a seamless and contactless travel experience for passengers. DigiYatra is set to be implemented across various airports in India, providing a significant upgrade to the way passengers navigate airports and paving the way for a more efficient and secure travel experience.
