The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism in Oman has announced plans to host the ‘Marhaba Dhofar’ event, a strategic initiative designed to attract tourists from regional and international markets, particularly from Saudi Arabia. This event marks a significant step in promoting tourism in the Dhofar Governorate, known for its stunning natural beauty and cultural heritage.
Haitham bin Mohammed Al Ghassani, Director General of Tourism Promotion at the Ministry, highlighted the collaborative nature of the event, emphasizing the involvement of tourism sector partners from both Oman and Saudi Arabia. The ‘Marhaba Dhofar’ event aims to strengthen tourism cooperation between the two nations, showcasing the unique offerings of Dhofar, including its famed Sarb season, a period of monsoon rains that transforms the landscape into a vibrant green paradise, and its exceptional winter tourism opportunities.
To foster this collaboration, the event is expected to bring together 50 prominent Saudi tourism companies and 15 influential media professionals from leading Saudi media outlets. The event’s program will feature insightful discussion sessions, strategic business meetings between Omani and Saudi tourism companies, and guided visits to key tourist sites and attractions within the Dhofar Governorate. These activities will provide a platform for sharing knowledge, exploring potential partnerships, and fostering a deeper understanding of the region’s tourism potential.
By promoting the region’s unique appeal, particularly during the winter season, the ‘Marhaba Dhofar’ event aims to attract more visitors and strengthen bilateral tourism partnerships between Oman and Saudi Arabia.
