Jorge Martin dominated the sprint race at the San Marino and Rimini Riviera MotoGP on Saturday, securing his second sprint win of the season and extending his lead in the overall championship standings. The Pramac rider, who started fourth on the grid, made a lightning-fast start, overtaking pole-sitter Francesco Bagnaia by the first turn. Martin maintained his lead throughout the 13-lap sprint, comfortably holding off Bagnaia’s challenge. This victory has put Martin 26 points ahead of Bagnaia in the standings.
Martin’s impressive performance comes after a string of consistent results, finishing second in both the sprint and main race at four of the last five events. His victory in the sprint race means that even if Bagnaia wins the main Grand Prix on Sunday, Martin cannot be overtaken in the standings this weekend. While Martin hasn’t secured a Grand Prix win since the French GP in May, his consistent performances have built a strong lead in the championship, setting his sights on his first ever MotoGP title.
