Navdeep Singh Secures Silver in Men’s Javelin Throw at Paris Paralympics

Navdeep Singh, a 23-year-old Indian athlete, made his country proud by winning a silver medal in the men’s javelin throw F41 event at the Paris 2024 Paralympics on Saturday. This was a remarkable achievement for Navdeep, who had previously placed fourth at the Tokyo Paralympics. In Paris, he showcased his strength and skill, throwing a personal best of 47.32m in his third attempt.

While he narrowly missed out on gold, Navdeep’s performance was commendable. The gold medal went to Iran’s Sadegh Beit Sayah, who set a new Paralympic record with a throw of 47.64m in the penultimate round. China’s Sun Pengxiang took home the bronze medal with a throw of 44.72m.

The F41 category is for athletes who have short stature, showcasing the inclusivity and diversity of the Paralympic Games. Navdeep Singh’s silver medal is India’s 17th in para athletics at the Paris 2024 Paralympics. With this achievement, India has now secured a total of 29 medals at the games, including six gold, ten silver, and thirteen bronze.
