Paris 2024 Paralympics Concludes with a Grand Closing Ceremony at Stade de France

The 17th edition of the Paralympic Games, held in Paris, is set to conclude on Sunday, September 8th, with a grand Closing Ceremony at the Stade de France. This iconic stadium, which hosted the track and field events during the Paralympics, will be the stage for a spectacular celebration of athleticism and resilience.

The Opening Ceremony, held at the Place de la Concorde and the Champs-Elysees, set the tone for an unforgettable Games, and the Closing Ceremony promises to be equally captivating. The ceremony will feature a vibrant performance by 24 renowned artists from the French electronic music scene, creating a unique atmosphere of energy and joy.

The Indian contingent, consisting of 84 athletes, made history in Paris, securing its most successful Paralympic Games ever with a total of 29 medals. This remarkable achievement includes seven gold, nine silver, and thirteen bronze medals. Among the standout performers were Harvinder Singh, who became the first Indian to win a gold medal in para archery, and Preethi Pal, who secured India’s first track medal with a bronze in the women’s 100m T35, followed by another bronze in the women’s 200m T35. Their remarkable accomplishments will be celebrated as they serve as India’s flagbearers during the Parade of Nations.

The Closing Ceremony will also mark the extinguishing of the Paralympic Flame, symbolizing the end of this edition of the Games. The Paralympic Flag will then be passed on to the Los Angeles 2028 Organising Committee, signifying the handover of responsibility for hosting the next Paralympic Games.

The Paris 2024 Paralympics Closing Ceremony will begin on September 8th at 11:30 PM IST. Viewers in India can catch the live telecast on DD Sports and Sports18 channels. The event can also be streamed live on JioCinema. This momentous occasion promises to be a fitting end to an extraordinary Paralympic Games.
