Jannik Sinner of Italy has solidified his position at the pinnacle of men’s tennis, seizing the No. 1 spot in the ATP Rankings following his triumphant US Open 2024 victory. The Italian star overcame a strong challenge from American Taylor Fritz, winning in straight sets 6-3, 6-4, 7-5 to claim his second Grand Slam title of the year, adding to his Australian Open triumph earlier this season.

Sinner’s impressive performance saw him leapfrog Carlos Alcaraz of Spain in the rankings, while Fritz, who fell just short of becoming the first American men’s singles Grand Slam champion in 21 years, surged five spots to return to the Top 10.

The US Open witnessed a shakeup in the rankings with defending champion Novak Djokovic experiencing a shocking third-round loss to Alexei Popyrin of Australia. This setback led to Djokovic’s descent to the fourth spot, replaced by Alexander Zverev of Germany.

Vijay Sundar Prashanth, and Ramkumar Ramanathan, also saw their rankings fluctuate. In singles, Sumit Nagal dropped nine spots to 82nd, while Ramkumar Ramanathan fell six spots to 332nd. Mukund Sasikumar, however, moved up 14 spots to 440th.
