Olympic Swimmer Srihari Nataraj Leads the Charge at National Aquatic Championships

The 77th Senior National Aquatic Championships, kicking off in Mangaluru on Tuesday, September 5th, promises to be a thrilling spectacle of aquatic prowess. Over 500 swimmers representing 31 states will vie for national titles, with the added incentive of achieving the ‘A’ Qualification mark for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Among the star swimmers to watch are Olympian Srihari Nataraj and freestyle specialist Aneesh Gowda, both aiming for top performances. Nataraj, who competed in the 100m backstroke at the recent Paris Olympics, is particularly eager to utilize his home advantage. “I am looking forward to being in my best form and I will be vying for gold in all my events,” said Nataraj, who holds national records in the 50m, 100m, and 200m backstroke.

Karnataka, the defending champion, will be seeking to maintain their dominance in the competition. The tournament, concluding on September 15th, is set to be a fierce battle for supremacy, with India’s best swimmers aiming to etch their names in the annals of national aquatic history.
