Tommy Hilfiger’s Spring 2025 collection set sail on a unique runway: the retired Staten Island Ferry, the MV John F. Kennedy. This unconventional venue, the last remaining Kennedy-class ferry, transported passengers between Manhattan and Staten Island from 1965 to 2021, perfectly aligning with Hilfiger’s vision of breathing new life into historic city landmarks. Just last season, he made his New York Fashion Week comeback at the Oyster Bar in Grand Central Station.
“New York City is the birthplace of the American Dream, and the Staten Island Ferry has represented a gateway to self-expression for many throughout history,” shared the designer. The show, a journey through Hilfiger’s preppy aesthetic infused with classic nautical elements, transported its audience—including Staten Island’s own legendary hip-hop group, the Wu-Tang Clan, who closed the show with a dynamic performance—across the stylistic divide.
The collection was a symphony of relaxed checkered tailoring in vibrant hues of pink and green, oversized sweaters and cardigans (including chic cropped versions), pleated double shorts, striped dresses, and tailored suits in cool blues—all perfectly suited for transitioning seamlessly from coastal escapades to city life. It was a collection that embodied the spirit of the sea, bringing a fresh and invigorating touch to the runway.
