Atria Development Corporation is thrilled to announce the appointment of Durval Terceira as Vice President of Business Development and Labour Relations, effective immediately. Terceira brings over three decades of leadership experience in the construction industry, a deep understanding of Atria’s long-term vision, and a proven track record of success in managing labor relations.
“I’m pleased to welcome Durval into this new role,” said Hans Jain, President of Atria. “His extensive expertise in managing labor relations and his commitment to collaborative partnerships will be instrumental in guiding Atria forward in our next stage of growth.”
Terceira’s impressive career spans various key roles within the construction industry. He served as Coordinator for Carpenters’ Local 1030, representing the interests of skilled trades professionals and advocating for fair working conditions throughout Toronto. His dedication to the industry also led him to serve as a Carpenters’ Regional Council Executive Board Member and Regional Manager for the Carpenters’ Regional Council Local 1030. Throughout his tenure, Terceira consistently demonstrated his commitment to strengthening the union’s presence, overseeing labor agreements, and supporting apprenticeship programs to enhance the careers of members.
From 1997 to 2007, Terceira served as a Business Representative in the Concrete and Drain sector for LIUNA Local 183, the largest construction union in North America. In 2007, he ascended to the role of Business Manager, successfully negotiating over 26 Collective Agreements and securing a comprehensive benefits package for all undocumented workers for LIUNA Local 183 within the province of Ontario. Notably, he also negotiated a full benefits package for retirees, ensuring they received equal benefits to active members.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Terceira is renowned for his philanthropic efforts. He has been a fervent advocate for Renos for Heroes, a charity dedicated to renovating homes for injured military veterans to improve accessibility. Under Terceira’s leadership, annual walkathons have raised over $1,000,000 for this worthy cause, showcasing his commitment to using his platform for positive social impact.
In his new role as Vice President of Business Development and Labour Relations for Atria and its group of companies, Terceira will oversee workforce development strategies and labor negotiations. His focus will be on building and strengthening partnerships with contractors, unions, and employees, ensuring Atria continues to foster a collaborative and inclusive environment for all stakeholders.
“I am honored to join Atria Development Corporation in this new role,” said Terceira. “Throughout my career, I have focused on building strong relationships within the construction industry, and I look forward to bringing that experience to Atria as we continue to grow and innovate.”
