The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) took center stage at the 2024 Tropical Coastal City Tourism Event in Sanya, Hainan, China, held from September 4-5. This event, endorsed by the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and orchestrated by the Sanya City Bureau of Tourism, Culture, Radio, TV, and Sports alongside the Sanya Tourism Board, provided a platform for MMPRC to highlight its commitment to sustainable and innovative tourism.
Leading the Maldives delegation were Mr. Abdulla Ghiyas Riyaz, Chairperson of MMPRC, and Mr. Ibrahim Shiuree, CEO and Managing Director. Mr. Riyaz delivered a compelling address titled “The Maldives Story & Innovative Tourism Marketing for Tropical Cities,” where he unveiled the unique attributes that elevate the Maldives as a premier vacation destination. He also shared the groundbreaking marketing strategies employed by MMPRC to further promote the tropical paradise.
Meanwhile, Mr. Shiuree participated as a panelist in the discussion titled “Insight Sessions: International Tourism Marketing.” During this session, he emphasized the crucial role of public-private partnerships in driving responsible tourism practices. He also stressed the importance of skill development amongst tourism professionals to ensure a well-trained workforce capable of delivering exceptional experiences. Mr. Shiuree further highlighted the need for diversifying the Maldives’ tourism offerings to achieve equitable distribution of tourism revenue across the country.
“The success of our tourism industry depends on a unified vision between the public and private sector in driving responsible tourism practices and sustainable growth,” Mr. Shiuree emphasized during the panel discussion.
