Ubisoft has addressed fan concerns regarding the future of its popular racing franchise, *The Crew*. Following the delisting of *The Crew 1* in March, which rendered the game unplayable due to the removal of online servers, Ubisoft has pledged to ensure continued access to the current titles.
During a recent showcase, Stéphane Beleym, Managing Studio Director on *The Crew*, stated, “We want to acknowledge that some of you voiced concern about the access to *The Crew* games. Today, we want to express our commitment to the future of *The Crew 2* and *The Crew Motorfest*. ” Beleym continued by confirming that Ubisoft is “currently exploring different solutions, and can confirm an offline mode, to ensure long-term access to both titles.” While specific details about the offline modes are yet to be released, the announcement has brought relief to fans who feared the same fate for *The Crew 2* and *The Crew Motorfest*.
The news comes after a group of modders initiated the *The Crew Revival* project, aiming to bring *The Crew 1* back online. One modder explained to Eurogamer that “the community should absolutely not let Ubisoft keep getting away with such horrendous practices; otherwise, it will just keep happening to more and more games, including *The Crew’s sequels*.” Ubisoft’s commitment to offline modes for the current *The Crew* titles indicates a shift in approach and a response to the community’s concerns.
Beyond the offline mode announcement, Ubisoft also unveiled exciting details about the upcoming Year 2 content for *The Crew Motorfest*. The game will receive three seasons of new content, with the first, Season 5, introducing the island of Maui to the game on November 6. Maui is said to be half the size of the existing O’ahu island and seamlessly integrates into the game world. *The Crew Motorfest* Year 2 will also include new PvE content, available to players with the Gold and Ultimate editions. As with any racing game, there will also be new vehicles added throughout the year.
