Vietnam’s tourism industry is experiencing a significant surge in Australian visitors following a successful roadshow held in Perth, Western Australia. The event, organized by the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT), aimed to strengthen tourism ties between Vietnam and Australia and New Zealand.
The roadshow highlighted the growing popularity of Vietnam as a tourist destination, with Australia being a key market. In 2023, over 390,000 Australian tourists visited Vietnam, exceeding pre-pandemic levels. This trend continued into 2024, with more than 281,000 Australians visiting in the first seven months alone.
Several factors are contributing to this growth, including the introduction of direct flights by Vietnam Airlines connecting major cities and tourist hotspots in both countries. Additionally, Vietnam’s implementation of e-visas for citizens of all countries, allowing stays of up to 90 days, has significantly eased travel for Australians.
The Perth roadshow provided Australian attendees with a firsthand glimpse of Vietnam’s tourism offerings, showcasing the country’s breathtaking natural landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and delectable cuisine. Distinctive cultural and artistic performances by the Vietnam National Music, Dance, and Theatre Troupe further captivated attendees.
The event also included a networking program, allowing Vietnamese and Australian businesses to connect, explore investment opportunities, forge business partnerships, and encourage tourist exchanges.
Vietnam boasts a diverse range of tourist attractions, including UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Ha Long Bay, Phu Quoc Island, and Son Doong Cave. Major cities like Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, and Nha Trang offer vibrant cultural experiences and scenic beauty. Emerging destinations like Lang Son with its ethnic villages, Binh Dinh with its historical sites and pristine beaches, Can Tho with its floating markets, and Soc Trang with its temples and unique Khmer culture, are gaining increasing popularity.
The success of the Perth roadshow signals a promising future for Vietnam’s tourism sector, particularly within the Australian market. With continued investment in infrastructure, marketing, and tourism development, Vietnam is poised to become an even more sought-after destination for travelers seeking authentic cultural experiences, breathtaking natural beauty, and warm hospitality.
