Over 100 Fall Ill After Eating Biryani at DMK Meeting in Madurai

A concerning incident unfolded in Madurai, India, where over 100 people, including numerous children, fell ill after consuming biryani at a DMK party meeting. The incident occurred on Friday, following a general meeting for party members and a distribution of welfare items. According to reports, biryani was served to attendees after the event, with some taking leftovers home to share with friends and family.

However, the meal quickly turned sour as attendees began experiencing symptoms such as vomiting and nausea. Ambulances rushed numerous individuals to nearby hospitals for treatment. The Thirumangalam Police have launched an investigation into the matter, with initial reports suggesting that the attendees suffered food poisoning after consuming stale food.

This unfortunate incident comes just weeks after a similar tragedy in Andhra Pradesh, where three children died and several others were hospitalized due to food poisoning. The incident occurred at a hostel housing nearly 90 children in Anakapalli district, where 27 children fell ill after eating contaminated food.

These incidents raise significant concerns about food safety practices at public gatherings and highlight the need for stricter regulations and enforcement to prevent similar tragedies from occurring. It is crucial to prioritize the well-being of attendees at such events, ensuring that all food served is safe and properly prepared.
