Mbappe then sealed the victory for Carlo Ancelotti’s side in the 75th minute, coolly slotting home his penalty after Vinicius Jr was fouled inside the area.
Despite Real Sociedad’s valiant efforts, including three shots that struck the woodwork, they were unable to find a way back into the match.
With the win, Real Madrid moved into second place in the La Liga table with 11 points, just one point behind leaders Barcelona, who face Girona later in the day.
