Prime Minister Narendra Modi set the stage for India’s ambitious renewable energy aspirations at the inauguration of the 4th Global Renewable Energy Investor’s Meet (RE-INVEST) 2024 in Gandhinagar on September 16th. In his address, Modi declared that the world recognizes India as a leading force in the 21st century and that the nation is laying the foundation for its success in the next millennium.
He highlighted the unwavering commitment of India’s 1.4 billion citizens to propelling the country to become the world’s third-largest economy. Modi emphasized that the government is focusing on comprehensive progress across all sectors, outlining the achievements of the first 100 days of their third term in office.
Speaking about India’s commitment to solar energy, Modi announced the government’s plan to develop Ayodhya and 15 other cities as model solar hubs. This initiative showcases the country’s dedication to promoting clean energy solutions.
The three-day RE-INVEST 2024 event, hosted by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), has attracted over 10,000 delegates from diverse sectors, including government, industry, and finance. The event’s central theme, ‘Mission 500 GW’, emphasizes India’s strategic target of significantly expanding its renewable energy capacity by 2030.
With the fourth largest installed renewable energy capacity globally, India is poised to solidify its position as a key driver of the global energy transition. The event has garnered significant international interest, with key partners including Australia, Denmark, Germany, and Norway.
India’s commitment to renewable energy is evident in the active participation of numerous states including Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan, Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh. High-level delegations from the US, UK, Belgium, the European Union, Oman, UAE, Singapore, and Hong Kong are also present, with ministerial delegations from Germany and Denmark adding to the event’s global reach.
