Community Takes Center Stage: Century 21 Research Reveals Homebuyers’ Desire for Connection

Century 21 Real Estate, a subsidiary of Anywhere Real Estate Inc., has released a groundbreaking study that sheds light on the evolving priorities of today’s homebuyers. Conducted by the leading global market research organization Ipsos, the study, titled “Connection, Community & Joy: How Recent/Intending Homebuyers are Putting Community at the Center of the Homebuying Process,” reveals a powerful shift in the homebuying landscape.

The research underscores the growing importance of community and connection in the homebuying process. It’s not just about bricks and mortar anymore; it’s about finding a place that fosters a sense of belonging. The study found that 88% of recent and intending homebuyers are willing to compromise on traditional ‘dream home’ features to live in a community that is perfect for their household. This trend reflects a fundamental shift in values, with homebuyers seeking more than just a house – they’re looking for a home within a vibrant, supportive community.

The study also highlights the strong sense of optimism among recent homebuyers. Despite the recent uncertainty in the real estate market, 56% of recent homebuyers reported feeling excited, 47% reported joy, 44% expressed hope, and 34% felt pride in the process of finding new homes. The findings demonstrate a strong belief in the future and a desire to build a life within a thriving community.

The study also delves into the unique motivations of Hispanic Americans, revealing a deep commitment to community. A subset study titled “Pride, Prosperity & Participation: The Community-Focused American Dream for Hispanic Recent/Intending Homebuyers” found that Hispanic Americans place a high value on building a positive impact within their communities. This group views homeownership as a path to building a prosperous future within a supportive community, with 89% emphasizing the importance of local connection.

“Community means home. The walls around them and the roof over their heads give security, but how they live is wrapped up in the community that surrounds them. The people, activities, locations…where we live, work and play bring us connections and a sense of belonging,” says Stephen Votino, Broker/CEO of CENTURY 21 Triangle Group, reflecting the sentiments shared by many of his clients.

The CENTURY 21 brand recognizes the growing importance of community and connection in the homebuying process. With their extensive network of independent agents, the brand is committed to providing the highest level of service and value to their clients, helping them establish roots in their new communities. “In today’s housing market, the role of the real estate agent is more critical than ever,” said Michael Miedler, president and CEO, Century 21 Real Estate LLC. “It goes far beyond helping clients through the buying process but also having first-hand knowledge of the communities that homeowners are moving into to help them establish a connection and envision the life they are looking to build for generations to come. Having these key insights into the minds of today’s consumers allows the CENTURY 21 network to truly drive value for their clients and create an experience that will remain with them long after they hand over the keys to the house.”
