Kimpton Virgilio, the renowned luxury boutique hotel chain, has officially appointed Erick Vargas as the General Manager of their new 48-room property in Mexico City. Vargas, who has been instrumental in the hotel’s success since its opening earlier this year, embodies Kimpton’s commitment to personalized service and innovative strategies.
Vargas brings a wealth of experience to the role, having spent over 15 years in hospitality management with prominent brands like Hilton, Grand Hyatt, Krystal, and Hoteles City. Throughout his career, he has held key leadership positions, including General Manager and Technical Coach, demonstrating his expertise in optimizing operations and developing talent. His leadership style, centered on service excellence and continuous improvement, has earned him recognition throughout the industry.
Prior to joining Kimpton Virgilio, Vargas served as General Manager at City Express by Marriott in Mexico City, where he successfully improved operational efficiency, enhanced service standards, and increased profitability.

Vargas holds a bachelor’s degree in tourism with a focus on hotel management from the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) in Mexico and completed an international exchange program in Tourism Management at Swinburne University of Technology in Australia. His extensive education and practical experience make him a well-rounded leader capable of navigating the complexities of the hospitality industry.
