PlayStation is throwing a major party to celebrate its 30th anniversary, and they’re not holding back on the goodies. The company has announced a collection of special-edition consoles, accessories, and digital content that will send fans down memory lane.
The centerpiece of the celebration is a pair of limited-edition PlayStation 5 bundles. The first bundle features a PlayStation 5 Digital Edition with a 1TB solid-state drive, while the second boasts a PlayStation 5 Pro with a 2TB solid-state drive. Both bundles are packed with extra goodies, including a DualSense Edge controller, a controller charging station, a vertical stand, a cable connector, four cable ties in PlayStation face button shapes, a sticker, a poster, and a PlayStation Paperclip. You can also snag the DualSense and DualSense Edge controllers separately, along with a PlayStation Portal.
The special edition consoles and accessories are a visual treat, featuring a distinctive gray color scheme that harkens back to the original PlayStation. The DualSense controllers showcase the nostalgic charm with a home button resembling the iconic colorful PlayStation logo and four buttons adorned with the original colors. The USB-C cable connector also sports the classic housing. Adding to the retro feel, a special logo is printed on the back of the products, while an infinite pattern graces the inside panel of the PS5 and the back of the DualSense grips.
The PS5 Pro takes the retro design to a new level with a unique serial number etched on one of the front-facing panels. What makes this console even more special is that PlayStation is only producing 12,500 units globally, making it a highly coveted collector’s item.
This isn’t the only way PlayStation is celebrating its 30th anniversary. The company is also releasing exclusive game trials, never-before-released digital soundtracks, and a collection of board games that are available for pre-order.
Pre-orders for the special-edition consoles and accessories begin on September 26 at PlayStation Direct and participating retailers. This is also the same day the PS5 Pro becomes available for pre-order. While PlayStation hasn’t revealed pricing yet, we can expect these special editions to be more expensive than the standard versions of each product.
With a nod to its roots and a commitment to innovation, PlayStation’s 30th anniversary celebration is sure to be a memorable event for fans worldwide.
