Anker Recalls Three Portable Battery Models Due to Overheating Risk

Anker, a household name in the portable battery industry, has issued a recall for three of its popular products due to a safety concern. The company has discovered that the lithium-ion batteries within the Anker 334 MagGo Battery, Anker Power Bank, and Anker MagGo Power Bank could overheat, potentially leading to melting plastic components, smoke, and even fire hazards.

While the recall affects specific production dates – January 3, 2024, to September 17, 2024 – it’s crucial to check if your Anker battery is included. To determine if your battery is part of the recall, visit the designated page on Anker’s website and enter your product’s serial number. You can find the serial number on the bottom of the battery.

If your product is included in the recall, you’ll be notified on the website. Additionally, you can verify your model by confirming that the bottom of the battery reads: Anker 334 MagGo Battery (PowerCore 10K)/Anker Power Bank/Anker MagGo Power Bank, Model: A1642/A1647/A1652. If your serial number is 16 digits long, it falls within the recall range.

Anker advises users of affected products to stop using them immediately and store them in a safe location. When disposing of these batteries, avoid throwing them in your regular trash or recycling bin. Instead, dispose of them at a facility that accepts lithium batteries.

For more information on the recall, visit the Anker website or contact their customer service team. This recall serves as a reminder to always prioritize safety when using lithium-ion batteries and to stay informed about any potential issues with your devices.
