PM Modi to Celebrate PM Vishwakarma’s Anniversary in Maharashtra, Launch Textile Park, Skill Development Scheme

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a significant visit to Maharashtra’s Wardha today, marking a year of progress under the PM Vishwakarma scheme. This initiative, launched on September 17, 2022, aims to provide comprehensive support to artisans and craftspeople who rely on their hands and tools for their livelihoods.

The PM’s visit will be marked by several key events. He will personally distribute credit to 18 beneficiaries representing 18 different trades under the PM Vishwakarma scheme, showcasing the program’s impact. Furthermore, he will be releasing certificates and loans to other beneficiaries, further underscoring the government’s commitment to empowering traditional skills.

To commemorate the scheme’s first anniversary, PM Modi will unveil a commemorative stamp, a symbolic gesture highlighting the significance of the PM Vishwakarma program in preserving and promoting traditional crafts.

In addition to these events, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the ambitious PM Mega Integrated Textile Regions and Apparel (PM MITRA) Park in Amravati, Maharashtra. This 1000-acre park, being developed by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), will serve as a vital hub for the textile industry, attracting large-scale investments, including foreign direct investment (FDI). The park is envisioned as a catalyst for innovation and job creation within the sector.

This massive textile park is just one of seven PM MITRA Parks slated for development across the country, all approved by the central government. These parks are designed to create world-class industrial infrastructure, fostering economic growth and attracting global investment.

During his visit, PM Modi will also launch two significant initiatives by the Maharashtra government. The first is the ‘Acharya Chanakya Skill Development Centre’ scheme, aiming to enhance vocational skills and prepare individuals for employment. The second initiative, the ‘Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Women Startup Scheme,’ will provide crucial support to women-led startups in the state. This scheme guarantees financial assistance of up to ₹ 25 lakh, with a special emphasis on supporting women from backward classes and economically weaker sections. The scheme aims to empower women entrepreneurs, enabling them to become self-reliant and contribute to the economic landscape.

PM Modi’s visit to Maharashtra is expected to be a landmark event, showcasing the government’s commitment to fostering traditional skills, promoting industrial growth, and empowering women entrepreneurs. These initiatives are poised to significantly impact the state’s economic development and create a brighter future for its citizens.
