Supreme Court Criticizes CBI for Transfer Petition in West Bengal Post-Poll Violence Cases

In a significant development, the Supreme Court of India on Friday sharply criticized the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for its transfer petition aiming to shift post-poll violence cases from West Bengal to a different state. The court expressed serious displeasure over statements contained within the petition, which alleged a hostile environment towards the cases in all courts within West Bengal.

The Supreme Court’s order, as reported by legal news website LiveLaw, stated, ‘Scandalous allegations have been made against all the courts in general in West Bengal. Repeatedly averred that there is a hostile environment prevailing in the courts. It is very unfortunate that the Central Agency has chosen to cast aspersions on courts in West Bengal.’ The court deemed these claims unacceptable and instructed the CBI to withdraw its petition.

This incident highlights the ongoing tensions surrounding the post-poll violence cases in West Bengal and underscores the importance of maintaining the integrity and impartiality of the judiciary. The Supreme Court’s strong stance against the CBI’s allegations sends a clear message about the need for respect and trust in the judicial system.
