Zimbabwe Simplifies Travel with Revamped eVisa System

Zimbabwe has taken a significant step toward boosting tourism by revamping its electronic visa (eVisa) portal. The new system, launched in September 2024, makes it much easier for travelers from 118 countries and territories to apply for an eVisa before their journey. This update signifies a major improvement in Zimbabwe’s travel infrastructure, as previously, nationals from these countries, including many from Europe and North America, had to obtain a visa upon arrival, without the option of applying beforehand.

With the new eVisa process, eligible travelers can now secure their visa online, streamlining their travel plans. This eliminates the hassle and uncertainty of obtaining a visa upon arrival, allowing for a smoother and more enjoyable travel experience.

Zimbabwe’s visa system is divided into three categories based on nationality:

*

eVisa:

Available to citizens of 118 countries, the eVisa can be applied for online and provides a convenient way to obtain a visa before arriving in Zimbabwe.
*

Visa on Arrival:

Available to citizens of certain countries who are not eligible for an eVisa.
*

Visa through Embassy:

Required for travelers staying longer than 30 days, those visiting for work or study purposes, and all travelers over 45 years old, regardless of the purpose or duration of their stay. This visa must be applied for through a Zimbabwean embassy.

To further encourage tourism, Zimbabwe offers a variety of visa options through its enhanced eVisa system:

*

Tourist Visa:

Valid for 30 days and can be extended for an additional 30 days. This visa is suitable for those looking to explore Zimbabwe’s rich culture, stunning landscapes, and diverse wildlife.
*

Business Visa:

Valid for 30 days and can be extended for an additional 30 days. This visa is designed for business travelers and investors looking to engage in trade or investment activities in Zimbabwe.
*

Transit Visa:

Valid for 72 hours and is intended for travelers transiting through Zimbabwe en route to another destination.
*

KAZA Univisa:

Introduced in 2014, this visa allows tourists to travel between Zimbabwe and Zambia for up to 30 days, making it a convenient option for those wishing to explore both countries.

Zimbabwe is poised to attract more international visitors with its updated eVisa system, making it a more appealing and accessible destination for travelers worldwide. This modernization is a clear signal that Zimbabwe is committed to enhancing its tourism infrastructure and creating a more welcoming and efficient travel experience for its visitors.
