Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Pune on September 26 to inaugurate a significant addition to the city’s public transportation system – the new underground Metro corridor connecting Civil Court to Swargate. This inauguration marks a crucial step in expanding Pune’s Metro network, providing a seamless and efficient commute for its residents.
The new underground line will extend the existing rail services from District Court to Swargate, passing through key areas like Budhwar Peth and Manda stations. This extension is expected to significantly benefit commuters travelling from PCMC to Swargate, offering a direct and convenient route.
The inauguration of this new phase of the Pune Metro is anticipated to benefit lakhs of passengers daily. This sentiment was echoed by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who highlighted the importance of the project. He stated that during the recent Ganpati festival, over 3.5 lakh people utilized the Metro for immersions, showcasing its growing popularity and efficiency.
In addition to the inauguration, Prime Minister Modi will also perform the ‘bhumipujan’ – a traditional groundbreaking ceremony – for another elevated Metro route, further solidifying the city’s commitment to expanding its public transportation infrastructure. This ambitious plan positions Pune as a leading urban center, offering residents a convenient and modern mode of transportation.
During his visit to Pune, PM Modi is also expected to address a public rally, further engaging with the city’s residents. This visit underscores the government’s focus on enhancing connectivity and infrastructure development in major urban centers across India.
