Tamil Film Director Arrested for Derogatory Remarks on ‘Panchamirtham’

Mohan. G, a prominent figure in the Tamil film industry known for directing hits like ‘Pazhaya Vannarapettai’, ‘Thandavam’, and ‘Draupathi’, was taken into custody in Chennai on Tuesday. The Trichy District Cybercrime Police apprehended the director for allegedly making derogatory remarks about ‘Panchamirtham,’ a sacred offering in Hinduism.

Trichy District SP Varun Kumar confirmed the arrest, stating that Mohan. G was apprehended in Chennai early Tuesday morning and would be brought to Trichy for further investigation. The arrest has sparked controversy and raised questions about due process.

Ashvathaman Allimuthu, the BJP President in Chennai, took to X to express his concerns. He claimed that the film director was arrested without any prior notice, leaving his family unaware of the reason behind his arrest, the grounds for it, and his whereabouts.
