Kia is making a significant move to enhance the charging experience for its EV customers. The company will be offering North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapters for its popular EV6 and EV9 vehicles, effectively opening up a vast network of fast charging stations for its owners. This initiative will significantly boost Kia’s EV accessibility in the US, making it easier than ever for drivers to power up their vehicles.
Starting in early 2025, owners of the 2024 and 2025 EV9 and 2024 EV6 models will receive a free NACS adapter, enabling them to utilize the more than 16,500 NACS DC fast chargers spread across the United States. This expansion represents a significant increase in available charging points for Kia EVs, expanding their reach by over 83 percent.
For those who purchased their EV6 or EV9 before September 4, 2024, Kia is offering the opportunity to buy a NACS adapter through authorized dealerships. This ensures that all Kia EV owners can benefit from the expanded charging network, providing them with more charging options and peace of mind. Access to the NACS fast charging network is planned to be fully operational starting January 15, 2025.
To further enhance the charging experience, Kia will be introducing a convenient app, Kia Access, in early 2025. This app will allow EV owners to effortlessly locate and navigate to available charging stations, check charger availability, and even pay for their charges directly through the app. Kia Access will be available on the vehicle’s infotainment system and on compatible smartphones.
