Asilia Africa Expands to Uganda with New Luxury Lodge and Destination Management Company

Asilia Africa, a pioneer in nature-positive travel, is thrilled to announce its expansion into Uganda with the upcoming launch of Erebero Hills Lodge, set to open its doors in early 2026. This luxury lodge will provide guests with an unparalleled opportunity to experience the wonders of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to over half of the world’s mountain gorilla population.

Erebero Hills, meaning ‘a place where you can see far,’ will be nestled within 45 acres of reforested land at the northern edge of Bwindi Forest. The lodge will feature eight exquisitely designed forest-view suites, each offering panoramic views and a peaceful retreat in nature. The lodge’s design aims to seamlessly merge sustainable luxury with the thrilling experience of gorilla trekking, while immersing guests in the rich cultural heritage of the Batwa People, the indigenous stewards of the forest.

Asilia Africa is committed to responsible tourism and has partnered with the Batwa and Bakiga communities to plant 25,000 indigenous trees as part of a reforestation project. This project will create a buffer zone to protect wildlife, preserve cultural heritage, and foster sustainable livelihoods for local communities. The lodge will also work closely with Change a Life Bwindi, a partner organization dedicated to supporting local communities.

The architecture of Erebero Hills Lodge, designed in collaboration with Pablo Luna Studios, will primarily utilize locally sourced bamboo, ensuring harmony with the natural landscape. The lodge is set to become a benchmark for sustainable luxury in the region.

Beyond the new lodge, Asilia Africa is launching a comprehensive Destination Management Company (DMC) in Uganda and Rwanda by the end of 2024. This initiative will expand their conservation-first approach to more destinations across East Africa, offering guests a deeper connection to the region’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.

With the opening of Erebero Hills Lodge and the launch of the DMC, Asilia Africa reinforces its commitment to responsible tourism and conservation. Their vision is to create unforgettable travel experiences that benefit both the environment and the local communities, ensuring the preservation of these incredible destinations for generations to come.
