Delhi Man Arrested for Spying on Woman Tenant with Hidden Cameras

In a shocking incident, the Delhi Police apprehended a 30-year-old man, identified as Karan, for allegedly utilizing hidden spy cameras to film a woman tenant in her bathroom and bedroom. The victim, an aspiring IAS officer, resided in a building owned by Karan’s father.

Karan, who lived on a different floor of the building, had reportedly installed the cameras disguised as light bulbs within the woman’s apartment. He allegedly used this clandestine method to record her private moments in the bathroom and bedroom. The police recovered one spy camera from Karan’s possession, along with two laptops used to store the recorded footage.

The woman’s ordeal began when she detected suspicious activity on her WhatsApp account. Upon checking devices linked to her account, she discovered an unfamiliar laptop listed, leading her to believe she was being monitored. Her suspicions were confirmed when she discovered a camera hidden in her bathroom’s light bulb fixture during a thorough search of her apartment. She immediately contacted the police.

Responding to the woman’s call, a sub-inspector arrived at the apartment and conducted a search, uncovering another hidden camera in the light bulb fixture of the victim’s bedroom. The officer then questioned the woman about anyone else who might have access to her apartment. The woman revealed that she had left her keys with Karan on previous occasions when she traveled to her hometown.

During interrogation, Karan admitted to his crime. He confessed to purchasing three spy cameras from an electronics market and installing two within the woman’s apartment. He explained that he took advantage of the woman leaving her keys with him while she was away for three months. The cameras were incapable of online operation, and the footage was stored on memory cards. Karan would periodically ask the woman for her keys so that he could transfer the recorded videos to his laptop.

The police seized the remaining spy camera and the two laptops containing the recordings from Karan. A case was registered against him under section 77 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita at the Shakarpur Police Station. The police are continuing their investigation into this disturbing incident.
