Bhumi Pednekar’s Chic Parsi Gara Saree at NBT Utsav: A Fusion of Tradition and Modern Glamour

Bhumi Pednekar, known for her effortless transition from red carpet glamour to elegant wedding attire, once again turned heads at the recent NBT Utsav event in Mumbai. This time, she embraced a modern take on the classic Parsi gara saree, exuding old-money charm and a touch of vintage allure.

The actress chose a stunning piece from Ashdeen’s ‘Wildflowers’ collection, a testament to the designer’s commitment to reviving traditional crafts. The saree, crafted from raw silk, showcased elegant tanchoi edging and intricate floral embroidery featuring columbines, forget-me-nots, and clematis blooms. The delicate embroidery brought the fabric to life, adding a touch of romanticism to the ensemble. Interestingly, Ashdeen previously designed a similar lace bodysuit for Vogue India’s September cover star Priyanka Chopra, paired with a black sari with parsi gara, highlighting the designer’s talent for blending tradition with contemporary aesthetics.

Pednekar paired her black and gold saree with a lace glove sleeve blouse, embracing the current trend of lace’s kitschy feminine vibe. The lace sleeves, extending into gloves, added a quirky vintage-meets-modern touch to the look. The ensemble was further elevated with dramatic layers of delicate pearls around her neck and a bold red hand-embroidered box clutch, providing a vibrant pop of color.

The event witnessed other Bollywood stars embracing traditional attire. Ananya Panday dazzled in a golden unreleased Ritu Kumar sari featuring a patchwork of archival prints, beautifully complemented by a multi-coloured necklace. Sharvari Wagh opted for a Tarun Tahiliani ensemble, featuring a Kasheeda-inspired hand-embroidered structured bustier paired with a handwoven scarf and lehenga with crystal tassels. Karisma Kapoor looked elegant in a cream-hued silk saree by Anita Dongre, adorned with intricate gota patti embroidery and embellishments of pearls, sequins, and anchored French knots.

Bhumi Pednekar’s choice of a Parsi gara saree at the NBT Utsav is a testament to her impeccable style and her appreciation for traditional Indian crafts. It’s a refreshing take on the classic saree, showcasing how traditional elements can be seamlessly incorporated into modern looks, creating a truly timeless and elegant statement.
