Bruna Marquezine is experiencing a truly special moment in her career. The actress, who has been making waves in cinema and television since a young age, is now fulfilling a lifelong dream: working alongside Fernanda Montenegro, one of the most respected figures in Brazilian theater and film. In an exclusive interview with Vogue, Bruna reflected on the unique opportunity to learn and create alongside such renowned actors.
“I’m incredibly excited about this new project, ‘Velhos Bandidos,’ directed by Claudio Torres. It’s a dream come true to work with Fernando Montenegro. Being able to work with all of them, Ari (Ary Fontoura), Vlad (Vladimir Britcha), Lázaro (Ramos) – they’re all actors I admire deeply. But working with Dona Fernanda has always been a dream. The chance to exchange ideas, create together, learn, and observe is a gift beyond measure. I feel incredibly honored. My biggest concern is managing to act and not just spend the entire time watching these other brilliant actors,” she shared.
Preparing for the role, Bruna describes the film as an action comedy filled with warmth, something she believes is crucial in good storytelling. “A bit of drama, a beautiful story, a family story, about a family discovering themselves as a family, becoming a family, and a film, for me, filled with learning, with an extraordinary cast. We start filming right after Fashion Week, but I’ve already had the opportunity to experience the generosity of everyone involved,” she revealed.
Despite her hectic schedule, which includes traveling and working in various parts of the world, Bruna reflects on the importance of finding balance. “Since a very young age, my profession, my craft, my work has allowed me to be in many places and travel a lot. So I’ve always had to divide myself a bit. Because of everything that has changed in recent years and recent times in this industry, a large part of the auditions are done online, which allows me to spend a lot of time at home, where my heart is happiest and my soul is lighter,” she said.
However, she doesn’t hide her longing for home. “A few years ago, I learned to divide myself, to be in a little bit of each place. So I go wherever my work calls and takes me. Never for too long in just one place. I think what I miss most is my family, my friends, and the food. Without a doubt.”
