Canadians Embrace Travel Despite Inflation, Seeking All-Inclusive Packages for Value

Despite the ongoing economic headwinds, including inflation, Canadians are demonstrating a strong desire to travel. A recent survey conducted by Sunwing Vacations found that nearly two-thirds (61%) of Canadians are planning international vacations within the next year. This eagerness to explore the world is particularly noteworthy considering the rising costs associated with travel and vacations, a concern shared by 88% of Canadians.

However, the desire to travel is not being dampened by inflation. The survey revealed that among those planning international trips, 85% reported their travel budgets have either stayed the same or increased compared to last year, with only 15% experiencing a decrease. This suggests that Canadians are prioritizing vacation experiences and are willing to adjust their spending habits to make it happen.

To navigate the rising costs effectively, Canadians are adopting clever travel strategies. The top three budget-saving techniques include traveling during off-peak seasons (60%), booking early to secure discounted rates (56%), and opting for all-inclusive deals (39%) that provide transparent upfront pricing for vacation expenses. Another 39% are setting up dedicated vacation funds to ensure their travel dreams become a reality.

“Canadians are savvy in how they spend their money, looking for the most value on their purchases and, as our research confirms, travel is no exception,” stated Samantha Taylor, Chief Marketing and Digital Officer for Sunwing Vacations Group. “Quality time on vacation is a top priority for Canadians and their families, even in the current economy, and they are willing to make trade-offs to turn their dream vacations into reality. They also know there is real value in booking an all-inclusive package thanks to transparent, upfront pricing. At Sunwing Vacations, we are incredibly pleased to make sun travel more accessible, with preferred rates from hotel partners, special booking incentives and perks, and with no hidden costs, helping us deliver an exceptional customer experience at unbeatable value.”

The survey also highlighted the top perks that would encourage more bookings for all-inclusive vacations. These included complimentary room upgrades (21%), free checked baggage (17%), and discounted add-ons like off-resort experiences (14%). These findings suggest that travelers are looking for added value and convenience when choosing all-inclusive options, confirming their desire for a seamless and enjoyable vacation experience.
