The U.S. Secret Service is currently investigating one of its agents accused of sexually assaulting a staffer working on Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign. The allegations, first reported by Real Clear Politics on Wednesday, claim the incident took place last week in Wisconsin.
According to four sources within the Secret Service, several agents and Harris campaign staffers were in Green Bay to prepare security measures for an upcoming rally. However, the event was ultimately canceled and moved to Atlanta, Georgia, after a rally was held in Madison, Wisconsin, on Friday. Following their work, the group went out for drinks at a local restaurant and later moved to the victim’s hotel room, where the alleged assault occurred.
The report details that the suspect, who was intoxicated, forced himself on the victim and began groping her. Witnesses were present during the assault. It is further reported that the suspect was so inebriated that his colleagues were forced to remove him from their hotel room, and he subsequently fell asleep in the hallway.
A spokesperson for the Secret Service confirmed the investigation to Fox News Digital, but refrained from disclosing any information regarding the involvement of a Harris staffer. They emphasized that the Secret Service holds its personnel to the highest standards and that the employee in question has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation unfolds.
In a statement, Harris’ office expressed their zero-tolerance policy for sexual misconduct and asserted their commitment to staff safety, as reported by the Associated Press. Fox News Digital has reached out to the Harris campaign for further comment.
