Bangladesh Interim Government Advisor to Attend India-Bangladesh T20I in Delhi

Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan, the youth and sports advisor of Bangladesh’s interim government, is set to make a trip to New Delhi to witness the exciting second T20I match between India and Bangladesh at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on October 9th. This visit holds significant weight as it marks the first instance of a key member of the interim government traveling to India since the recent regime change in Bangladesh last month.

According to reliable sources, Mr. Mahmud will be in the national capital for a couple of days. During his stay, he is expected to meet with Bangladesh cricketers and other stakeholders associated with the team. It’s also anticipated that the Bangladesh Cricket Board president, Faruque Ahmed, will be part of the delegation. However, due to prior commitments, his participation remains uncertain.

“I have to attend an ICC meeting around that time in Dubai and the Bangladesh Premier League draft will be held on October 14, so we have a busy schedule. Even though I will try to accompany the sports advisor to Delhi, I am still not sure if I can eventually make it,” Ahmed shared with Sportstar on Thursday.

Mr. Mahmud emerged as a prominent figure in Bangladesh’s quota reform movement, which sparked widespread anti-government protests, eventually leading to the resignation of Sheikh Hasina’s administration. This trip to India adds another layer of interest to his visit, making it a significant event in the context of recent political developments in Bangladesh.
