Haruka Kitaguchi, Gold Medalist, Talks Fashion, Time, and Czech Charm

Haruka Kitaguchi, the gold medalist in the javelin throw at the Paris Olympics, has returned to Japan as a hero. She recently visited the Omega Boutique Ginza, a flagship store of the brand she serves as an ambassador. Kitaguchi’s vibrant personality extends beyond the athletic field, as she’s known for her bold fashion choices, including eye-catching makeup, butterfly-themed earrings, and colorful hair clips.

During our interview, she shared her thoughts on fashion, makeup, and the importance of time, adding a personal touch to her story.

From Gold Medal to Glamorous Makeup

“I tend to add more glitter to my eyeshadow than usual when I’m nervous before a competition, and I ended up looking really sparkly at the Paris Olympics (laughs).”

Kitaguchi’s unique makeup style and her fierce competitive spirit have captured the attention of fans. She believes in making a statement, ensuring that she stands out from the crowd. Her signature pink eyeshadow has become a recurring theme, adding a touch of boldness to her look. But she also acknowledges that even in moments of tension, her love for makeup shines through.

A Globetrotter’s Fashion Sense

“I don’t get much time for shopping in Japan, so I tend to do it when I’m abroad. I enjoy trying different styles to find what I like. I prefer to experiment and try new things rather than stick to the same old routine. I’m currently in a lot of sportswear (laughs), but I’m looking forward to exploring more fashion options once the off-season starts.”

Kitaguchi’s adventurous spirit extends to her wardrobe. She’s not afraid to try new styles and trends, always seeking out the next exciting fashion discovery. It’s clear that her personality is as vibrant and dynamic as the colorful outfits she rocks.

Time, the Treasured Commodity

Kitaguchi’s choice of Omega’s Seamaster Diver 300M watch reflects her meticulous approach to time management. She shared a story about her family’s involvement in her decision, highlighting the importance of shared moments. “I’m indecisive, so I consulted my family to get their opinions (laughs).” The watch, a testament to her dedication, embodies her desire to make the most of each passing moment.

She elaborates, “After practice, I take care of my body, and even on my days off, I go to the salon and then grab a bite to eat. When I have something I want to do, I pack my schedule. It’s like, I’m already out, so let’s make the most of it!”

A Love for Czech Charm

Kitaguchi’s life in the Czech Republic for the past six years has inspired a deep appreciation for its charm. “The town I live in is quite rural, with a lot of pastel-colored buildings. It’s colorful and cute, but it also has a historical atmosphere. There’s so much to see and enjoy.”

Kitaguchi’s commitment to her sport is evident in her daily routine. “I have a favorite café where I always buy coffee before heading to practice. Sometimes, I grab a cake too.”

As Kitaguchi embarks on her off-season, it’s a well-deserved break after her Olympic victory and Diamond League performances. It’s a time for reflection and rejuvenation, preparing for the next chapter in her remarkable athletic journey. We can’t wait to see what she achieves next!
