In a significant move, IndiGo Airlines has appointed Isidro Porqueras as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), signaling the airline’s commitment to global expansion. Porqueras, with over 25 years of experience in aviation, will take the reins from Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, who is set to retire after a successful seven-year tenure. This appointment, effective November 1st, 2024, is subject to regulatory approval.
Porqueras’s appointment marks a new chapter for IndiGo. He has been instrumental in the airline’s transformation since joining as Chief of Transformation in April 2024. Prior to this, he served as COO at European airline Volotea and held leadership positions at renowned companies like McKinsey and Uralita. His extensive background in operations, strategy, and finance positions him well to lead IndiGo’s global ambitions.
Wolfgang Prock-Schauer leaves behind a legacy of operational excellence and market expansion. He joined IndiGo in 2018, bringing a wealth of experience from his roles as CEO and MD of Go First, and prior to that, over six years as CEO of Jet Airways. Under his leadership, IndiGo has strengthened its operations and significantly expanded its market presence, particularly in the international sector.
As Porqueras takes the helm, he is expected to build upon Prock-Schauer’s strong foundation. His expertise and vision will be crucial in navigating IndiGo’s next phase of growth, further strengthening its position as a leading player in the global aviation landscape.
