India’s Yuvraj Sandhu ignited the first round of the Yeangder TPC golf tournament in Taiwan with a spectacular 7-under 65, placing him in a tie for second. Starting strong from the first tee, Sandhu notched three birdies in his first four holes, ending the front nine at 3-under. The back nine proved even more impressive, with Sandhu adding five birdies against one bogey and one par, ultimately carding a brilliant 65.
He fell just short of Thailand’s Suteepat Prateeptienchai, who dominated the round with an eight-under-par 64 and claimed the lead. Prateeptienchai’s performance was highlighted by an eagle, seven birdies, and a single dropped shot at the Linkou International Golf & Country Club.
Sandhu wasn’t alone in his success. Fellow Indian golfers Ajeetesh Sandhu and Karandeep Kochhar both shot 67s, placing them in a tie for sixth. Shiv Kapur followed closely behind with a 68, good for a T-14 finish. The strong Indian showing continued with Rashid Khan (T-46), Gaganjeet Bhullar (T-67), SSP Chawrasia (T-128), S Chikkarangappa (T-137), and Varun Chopra (T-150). Indian-American Manav Shah also joined the ranks at T-46 with a 70.
Sandhu expressed his confidence, stating, “Game is good. I am confident but do have a few nerves. Quite far from home, of course. As I played here last year so I knew what to prepare for.” He has faced a challenging season with missed cuts in the past six tournaments, but remains optimistic as he navigates his debut season on the Asian Tour.
