Heavy Rains Forecast Across 10 Indian States: IMD Issues Alerts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded the alarm for heavy rains across 10 states in India, urging residents to brace themselves for potential flooding and disruptions. The agency has issued an orange alert for Uttar Pradesh, signaling the highest risk of heavy rainfall, while yellow alerts have been issued for Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Kerala, and Maharashtra.

Western India:

The IMD’s latest weather bulletin predicts isolated heavy rainfall over Madhya Maharashtra and Gujarat State on September 28th.

Eastern and Northeastern India:

The IMD’s press release from September 27th forecasts isolated heavy rainfall in various regions:

* Arunachal Pradesh: From October 1st to 3rd.
* Assam & Meghalaya: From September 29th to October 3rd.
* Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Bihar: On September 28th.
* Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura: From September 30th to October 3rd.

Central India:

The IMD anticipates isolated heavy rainfall in West Madhya Pradesh on September 28th. Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall is likely in central India until September 30th. From October 1st to 4th, isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall is anticipated in the region.

Northwest India:

The IMD has issued a warning for isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in East Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, September 28th. Additionally, isolated heavy rainfall is likely in Uttarakhand on the same day.

South Peninsular India:

The weather agency forecasts isolated heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal until September 29th. Kerala and the Mahe region are expected to experience isolated heavy rainfall until October 2nd.

Air Quality:

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data recorded at 6:30 AM on Saturday showed Gujarat’s Nandesari with the worst air quality, registering an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 178. Maharashtra’s Kalyan, on the other hand, had the best air quality, registering an AQI of 9, which falls in the ‘good’ category. Sangli recorded an AQI of 19; Vapi had an AQI of 22; Amravati, Bharatpur, and Davanagere reported an AQI of 21; and Firozabad had an AQI of 20.
