Rain washes out Day 2 of India vs Bangladesh Test in Kanpur

The second day of the second Test match between India and Bangladesh in Kanpur was a complete washout, with not a single ball bowled due to persistent rain and a wet outfield. Despite a brief lull in the morning, the rain returned, turning into a light drizzle around noon. However, the ground remained saturated, making it impossible for play to resume.

On Friday, Bangladesh was put in to bat after India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to field first. Pacer Akash Deep got off to a strong start, taking two early wickets and giving India a significant advantage. However, a solid partnership between Mominul Haque and Najmul Hossain Shanto threatened to swing the momentum back in Bangladesh’s favor before veteran off-spinner R. Ashwin intervened, breaking the partnership and leaving the visitors at 107/3 at the end of day one.

With three days remaining in the match, India will be hoping for clearer skies and a chance to push for a result. However, the rain has thrown a spanner in the works, leaving the outcome uncertain. The match is now in a precarious position, with both teams having much to play for. India will be looking to secure a series win, while Bangladesh will be hoping to salvage a draw and avoid a whitewash.
