Edinburgh Airport is gearing up for a major transformation, promising passengers a revitalized experience with expanded food, drink, and shopping options. The airport, now managed by VINCI Airports, a global operator of over 70 airports, is undergoing a comprehensive overhaul to enhance passenger comfort and convenience.
One of the most anticipated changes is the expansion of the popular BrewDog bar. Since its opening in 2019, the bar has become a favorite spot for travelers looking to enjoy craft beers and pub grub. The new, larger location will feature an extended food menu and additional beer taps, taking over the space near gate 11 currently occupied by Hudson St Grill. The existing BrewDog bar will be transformed into the Icons sports bar, offering a different kind of entertainment experience.
Adding to the excitement is the introduction of a Sainsbury’s supermarket, marking the retailer’s first airport location. The new shop will replace M&S Simply Food, which closed on October 1st, offering passengers a fresh retail experience before passing through security. The store will include an in-store bakery, allowing travelers to grab fresh pastries and other essentials before their flight.
Beyond the expanded offerings, Edinburgh Airport is also introducing other exciting additions to its dining and shopping scene. Pizza Express, a popular Italian chain, will open in the departures area, while Seoul Bird, a Korean fried chicken restaurant, will make its Scottish and airport debut. These additions will provide passengers with a greater variety of culinary options to choose from.
While the renovations are underway, airport staff will work diligently to minimize disruption to passengers. Gail Taylor, Chief Commercial Officer (non-Aero) at Edinburgh Airport, expressed excitement about the changes, stating: “We’re always looking to provide the very best choice to our passengers and meet the demand for the things they want, whether it’s a drink to toast that trip away or some essentials after they return from their break. Our BrewDog bar has been a huge success since opening at the airport five years ago, so seeing it move into a larger unit and expanding its offering was always going to be a popular option. This is one of several changes people will see in the coming months, and we’re sure the arrival of Sainsbury’s – one of the UK’s top supermarket chains – will also go down well with our passengers. Add to this the arrivals of Pizza Express, Seoul Bird and Icons, there is a lot to look forward to. We’d like to thank passengers for their patience while work to make these changes is ongoing.”
With these exciting upgrades, Edinburgh Airport is poised to enhance the travel experience for passengers, providing them with a wider range of options and creating a more enjoyable environment before and after their flights.
