The second day of the second Test match between India and Bangladesh in Kanpur has been completely washed out due to persistent rain. The downpour, which began overnight, continued throughout the morning, forcing officials to abandon play without a single ball being bowled. The groundstaff, despite the rain stopping around 10:30 am, couldn’t get the covers off due to the overcast conditions and the wet outfield. Even though the light seemed to improve for a while, the match was eventually called off at 2 pm, marking the second consecutive day with no play in the match.
The weather forecast for Sunday doesn’t look promising either, with more rain expected. This leaves the match heading towards a draw, with only Monday and Tuesday looking like sunny days.
Bangladesh ended the rain-curtailed opening day at 107 for three, with only 35 overs bowled. India currently leads the two-match series 1-0, having won the first Test in Chennai by a convincing margin of 280 runs.
Stay tuned for updates on the weather and the possibility of play resuming on Sunday.
