A horrifying crime has shaken the state of Tripura, where a 62-year-old woman was brutally burnt alive by her own sons and other family members. The incident, which occurred on September 28th, took place in the West Tripura region, specifically in Khamarbari under the jurisdiction of Champaknagar police station.
According to reports, the woman was tied to a tree and set ablaze. Police officials, alerted to the incident, rushed to the scene and discovered the burnt body. The body was subsequently taken to the hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Initial investigations suggest that the gruesome act was fueled by a property dispute. Following the death of the woman’s husband one and a half years ago, she had become dependent on her two sons. She lived with one of her sons while the other resided in the state capital, Agartala.
Authorities have apprehended the two sons for their alleged involvement in the crime. They are scheduled to be produced before the court on Monday with the police seeking remand for further interrogation.
This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential for violence stemming from family disputes, particularly when property inheritance is involved. The authorities are committed to conducting a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served and to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
