Vietnam Seeks Hollywood Collaboration to Boost Tourism and Film Industry

A delegation from Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (MOCST), headed by Deputy Minister Ho An Phong, recently engaged in fruitful discussions with leaders from the Los Angeles City Government in California. This meeting served as a crucial part of the broader Vietnam Tourism and Cinema Promotion Program in the United States.

During the meeting, Deputy Minister Ho An Phong acknowledged Los Angeles’ prominent position as a global hub for tourism and entertainment. He highlighted the city’s substantial collaborations with various Vietnamese ministries and regions. Recognizing the immense potential for further collaboration in tourism and film, Deputy Minister Ho An Phong encouraged the Los Angeles City Government to strengthen ties with Vietnam, particularly in areas under the MOCST’s purview.

Los Angeles, with its extensive experience in developing cultural industries and the film economy, is well-positioned to support Vietnam’s efforts, particularly the Vietnam Creative Cities Network Project under UNESCO’s Creative Cities framework. A key priority will be assisting Ho Chi Minh City in preparing its application to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the cinema category, expected to be submitted in 2025.

Furthermore, Deputy Minister Ho An Phong announced exciting plans for 2025, where Hollywood studios will be invited to explore Vietnam as a potential destination for filming and tourism. This initiative aims to leverage the allure of Vietnam’s diverse landscapes and rich cultural heritage to attract international film productions and tourists alike.

The meeting signifies a strategic step towards strengthening the collaboration between Vietnam and Los Angeles, fostering mutual growth in tourism and film industries. The potential for knowledge exchange, investment opportunities, and cultural exchange is vast, promising a bright future for both parties involved.
