Korean Air Rekindles ‘Parents Invitation Program’ to Strengthen Company Culture

Korean Air has brought back its popular ‘Parents Invitation Program’ after a five-year break, kicking off the first session on September 27th at its headquarters in Seoul. The program, which will run for three months over three sessions, invites employees’ parents to experience their children’s professional environment firsthand.

The first session saw around 60 participants, including employees and their parents, embarking on guided tours of key facilities, including the Operations & Customer Center (OCC), Aviation Medical Center, Flight Training Center, and the airline’s hangar. This program, spanning three months, will consist of three sessions, inviting 60 families and involving about 180 participants in total. The initiative aims to give employees’ parents a direct look into their children’s professional environment, enhancing their understanding of Korean Air’s day-to-day operations.

One of the highlights of the program was the tour of the Flight Training Center. Participants had the unique opportunity to interact with the Flight Training Device (FTD), a cutting-edge simulator used for pilot training. Attendees even got to control the cockpit, offering them a hands-on experience and a glimpse into the challenges of piloting an aircraft.

Donghyeok Shin, Corporate Communications Manager for Korean Air, highlighted the program’s significance, saying, “The program represents a step in our ongoing efforts to foster a strong, interconnected Korean Air community and strengthen our corporate culture. By inviting our employees’ parents to experience our operations firsthand, we hope to build trust, express gratitude, and instill a sense of pride in our extended Korean Air family.”

The ‘Parents Invitation Program’ is part of Korean Air’s broader commitment to corporate social responsibility and fostering employee engagement. Beyond this program, the airline runs several other family-centric initiatives, such as Family Day events, special gifts for children starting elementary school, and orientation sessions for students preparing for college. These efforts underscore Korean Air’s recognition of the vital role that employees’ families play in contributing to the company’s success and overall operations.
