Riley Keough Vows to Preserve Graceland, Elvis Presley’s Legacy

Riley Keough, the granddaughter of Elvis Presley, has made a strong statement about her commitment to the future of Graceland, the iconic estate her grandfather held dear. “My desire is to continue what my grandmother (Priscilla Presley) has done and what my mother (Lisa Marie Presley) has done, which is to preserve our family home,” she declared.

Riley’s mother, Lisa Marie, the only child of Elvis Presley, tragically passed away in January 2023 at the young age of 54. Her funeral was held at Graceland, and she was laid to rest on the property alongside her father and her son, Benjamin Keough, who died by suicide in 2020. Following her death, a legal dispute arose between Riley and Priscilla over Lisa Marie’s estate. In May 2023, the two parties reached a settlement, naming Riley as the sole trustee of her mother’s estate, including ownership of Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee. She also became the guardian of her 15-year-old twin sisters, Finley and Harper, and their inheritance.

Riley is also working to publish her mother’s memoir, “From Here to the Great Unknown,” based on drafts Lisa Marie left behind. In an interview with People magazine, Riley shared, “My mother was the daughter of Elvis Presley, so she was always going to be talked about, dissected, and analyzed. What she wanted to convey in her book, and what I hope I’m doing for her, is to get beyond the headlines and see who she was at her core. I wanted to create a full picture of her, to show her as the incredible mother she was, but also the wild child, the friend, the artist who was underrated, the outspoken, funny, traumatized, yet joyful, grieving, beautiful soul she was. I wanted to tell the story of her incredible life, all of it. It couldn’t be done while she was alive, but I wanted to get it out there in her voice.”

“From Here to the Great Unknown” is set to be released on October 8th.
