Daisy Edgar-Jones Channels 90s Gucci Glamour at BFI Luminous Gala

Daisy Edgar-Jones brought a touch of 90s Gucci glamour to the British Film Institute’s Luminous Gala. The event, which raises vital funds to preserve the BFI’s archive, was a haven for fashion enthusiasts. Edgar-Jones turned heads in a breathtaking Ancora-red column dress, a modern interpretation of the iconic cut-out gowns made famous by Tom Ford’s Gucci in the 1990s. The dress, draped from a bamboo-shaped choker, exuded a vintage charm, reminiscent of the era when Carolyn Murphy closed the Gucci autumn/winter catwalk in a similar design.

These iconic dresses, once worn by supermodels like Murphy, have become a coveted treasure for vintage dealers, and Sabato de Sarno, the current creative director of Gucci, has cleverly reinterpreted them for a new generation. Edgar-Jones, who first laid eyes on the gown at de Sarno’s spring/summer 2025 presentation, waited two weeks to secure the piece for herself.

Joining Edgar-Jones at the gala were fellow actors Joe Locke, Mia-McKenna Bruce, Richard Gadd, Marisa Abela, Josh O’Connor, and the always-stylish Tilda Swinton, each adding their own unique flair to the event’s sartorial tapestry. The Luminous Gala, with its celebration of film and fashion, served as a reminder of the enduring power of iconic design and the importance of preserving cinematic heritage.
